Heritage Park

Heritage Park (200 North Fairfield Road)

You may have noticed some activity on the Heritage Park (former Clover Club) property. Sorry, but the park is not being constructed yet. The Public Works Department is involved in a big waterline project on south Main Street. The dirt on the north side of the Heritage Park property is being stockpiled there temporarily from that project. The big cement culverts, dirt and debris sitting on the south side is from the 200 North/Main Street reconstruction project. Work on that intersection has commenced and will continue through next year. The curb on 200 North (from Fairfield to Main) will be moved north 5' and the intersection at Main and 200 North will be improved.

I have an excellent picture of the "No Dumping" sign in the foreground with a dump truck doing its business in the background. Sure, I'm bummed about them taking years longer than we'd hoped to make a part for our kids, but mostly I really feel badly for my friends in the Crestwood apartments next to those huge piles of dirt... the air is awful while they're dumping, and the residents can't stand to be outside their homes (and the swamp coolers just suck the dirt right into their homes anyway!) I really feel that the city should have chosen an area NOT immediately adjacent to residences like that for its dumping.

I still don't understand why Kaysville purchased this property for commercial development and is now putting in a park instead. The justification is that there is no park nearby, however, at the time there was a park east of the library, and also lots of play area at the elementary school. It seems as if the money to the east of this new park talks. this is where the commercial development should be, not in west Kaysville.
